Namari Onsen is in the labyrinthine complex of the Fujisan Ryokan (藤三旅館), the highlight of which is the White Monkey Bath (白猿の湯), a 1.4 meter deep, wonderfully hot oval of konyoku perfection with a rough, natural bottom and tiled sides. A small lip at the edge lets one ease in. Though konyoku (mixed gender) the White Monkey Bath has Ladies only hours, so pay attention to the signs outside the entry doors.
Fujisan Ryokan has a new, fancy wing and then an older, unadorned, and very reasonably priced wing perfect for budget travelers. Bring dinner in a bag, go sudomari (no meals) and you can make an overnight stay even more affordable. Getting here requires some attention to details as the Hanamaki Onsen bus will drop you off at an entirely different location. Get on the Shin Namari bus and disembark at Namari Onsen to avoid a lengthy taxi ride from Hanamaki. Fujisan Ryokan is owned by Hanamaki Onsen, however, hence the confusion.
